@Natalie am in hospital just been inducted had the gel about a hour ago now.

@Natalie it’s okay, I think my cervix is opening up god it’s painful x

@Natalie how painful was this process? I’m currently in the middle of being induced and petrified of having my cervix checked again and having my waters broken. I dunno why I found it sooo painful and uncomfortable.

@afshana I was just induced yesterday. I had a full day of the misoprostol which didn't work then the gel. My cervix was still high and posterior when they gave the gel. Contractions started with a bang 2 hours later and were relentless, they gave me an injection to stop them as there no break in between. Let your midwife know as they need to monitor of coming too fast they can reverse. It is unfortunately a very painful process, start to finish my baby was out in 2 hours

I'm booked in for a gel outpatient induction tomorrow so they're supposed to administer the gel and then they send me home to see if it starts labour, as I was told it doesn't often work with your first, but seeing this has made me worried that I'll be in a lot of pain and without access to pain relief 😔

@Cherrelle I’ve only had one I am in agony was non stop but been getting some time where it stops a few seconds here and there. They only offer you paracetamol and Codeine (atleast at my stage which is first gel and it’s working). In 30 mins I am due a examination to see if it have worked or not (made me soft and dilate) they are sure it has. Just on monitor now checking on baby. They said if contractions are happening a lot they won’t exam me in 30 mins wait for them to slow. Even one gel can be very effective. I didn’t think it would work for me but it definitely had the midwife can feel the contraction while touching my belly. If I was you Insist you want to stay in I am no expert but the gel is meant to cause pain and get everything flowing yes it may take more than one dose but it’s 3 doses with 6 hour breaks between each so a day really. You need monitoring baby could get distressed, you could progress quick (which I think is happening to me) all sorts. Rest while you can

@Cherrelle and honestly when the midwife or whoever says you can move, walk, get in funny position whatever it takes. If it works sitting down and laying down is so so so painful like I’ve just been crying all night ( doesn’t help first baby and I didn’t want or expected this situation) but walking makes the pain 10x less and if you are in hospital you can walk around whatever time you want which is great

I'll be induced tomorrow so I want to read you guys...

omg sorry ask for gas and air

Update: still having same pains so they are not giving me any more gel if I wasn’t having any contractions or fighting’s they would of given me 2nd dose at 8:30 and 3rd dose 6 hours later this afternoon. The staff are lovely they said when I feel better they will do a examination and see what’s going on with my cervix ect I’ll keep you updated. Did not think it would happen this fast

Having gel induction right now, one dose didn’t work they will try another one. I refused to put balloon, did I do right? Not sure how long will it take now cervix is closed :(

@Asma mine was still shut after 1 gel took 3. They can pop your water another way if needs be. Stay calm and assess the situation in the next day or two while you have more gel and see what is right for you but I will say I wouldn’t of had the ballon myself BUT when I was in labour I did a lot I never thought I would I had a epidural which I really didn’t want and you have to have a catheter while having a epidural which to me even now 9 day po makes me feel sickkkkk and I had a episotmy (cut from vagina to bum) and I really didn’t care at the time I just wanted baby out and for pain to stop your instincts kick in cx

They might go with balloon Bcz I’m contracting but cervix not opening.

I will definitely take epidural

Also took last time with my toddler
