Day sleeping

Do you let your baby sleep as much as they want through the day (11 weeks old) or does this effect there night sleep?

My 11 week old has 2 hour max naps, every hour or so. She usually wakes up between 1-2 hours but if she doesn’t I wake her up after 2 hours. At night she does 8-1 and then is on and off BF. Xx

I let her sleep as much as she needs! Sleep breeds sleep at that age!

I've always capped naps to help with day/night confusion, make sure LO is getting as many calories as possible during the day time, and to promote night sleep. Baby needs x number of calories in 24 hours, so I offer feeds every 2.5-3.5 hours during the day (or on demand) then less calories will be needed over night. Baby also needs x hours of sleep in 24 hours (the amount lessens as baby gets older) so finding the balance between enough day sleep to avoid a crabby baby and enough night sleep to avoid a crabby mommy is key

Nope, I just let him sleep as long as he needs to sleep, no point for a routine at this age and baby needs a lot of sleep at this age in order to develop. My boy sleeps 5-7 hours during the day and then 10-12 hours overnight, usually asleep from 8pm-4am and then 4:30-8am x

@Charlotte totally agree, I do exactly the same and always cap naps when they clash with feed time! My 3 month old only wakes up once overnight to feed and it’s around 5am anyway so not too bad. I credit the daytime calories!

He sleeps when he wants during the day We are lucky though my baby has been sleeping through the night since he was 6.5 weeks old. His day sleep doesn’t affect it.
