Water struggles

We’re having a hard time getting water in.. mostly because he just refuses. We’ve tried pretty much every cup under the sun, ice, no ice.. fruit.. juice.. you name it. He hates juice and popsicles. We live where it gets really hot in the summer and I’m worried about him staying hydrated. Does anyone else have a toddler like this..? 😫 I feel so alone, everyone always talks about how their kid is a “fish” and drinks so much.. any tips or suggestions to help him get more interested in water..?

Try kinderlyte, it's dye free and has electrolytes. That way a little goes further than just water. We use this on my daughter every time she stops drinking. I have found that refilling a good2grow character bottle helps on the really hard days as well. Also, i bought her, dad, and i all reduce cups and dad and i exaggerate the ahhh sound after each sip so she copies us back and forth. If she stops we wait like 10 mins and do it again. Good luck mama, sounds like you're doing everything you can. Also, try smoothies with water instead of milk.

Do you drink water in front of him? My toddler will drink whatever I have in MY cup and that's worked. He doesn't get any liquids at all? No bottles anymore??

@J.S. He gets liquids, just not a ton. I make a show of it when I drink from my cup, and I’ll share my water with him. I’d say a solid half the time though he just ends up playing with the straw or wanting to run away with it instead of drinking 😫🤦🏻‍♀️ He doesn’t like juice or popsicles, we’ve tried pedialyte, but that falls closer into the juice category. I mix up the cups I give him, once one seems to be less exciting, we’ll rotate out for something else. Some days he’ll drink a bunch, others he barely touches the cups without massive intervention/encouragement. He’s having the bare minimum wet diapers our pediatrician has said he should get, he’s happy, eating, playing, talking, etc. I’m just anxious with the summer approaching and temps getting well over 100°

@Lisa-Marie I’ve seen the good2grow bottles, but I haven’t bought any since he’s not a fan of juice.. maybe it would help? We’ve been given the advice to try juice/popsicles to help encourage him to drink more, but he’s literally never shown interest in juice. He’ll take a sip and then put the cup down and never go back, when I try to give it back to him I just get a firm “no!” And he’ll run off. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Dump the juice into something else and use it for water. Let him pick the character. My daughter picked monkey (curious george) and daddy shark lol. We remove at least half the juice and add water everytime (we save the juice and use for refills). My LG also has days where she doesn't drink. Idk how many diapers because at home she is naked and using her potty.

For some reason my daughter loves lemon water right now and Downs it. When it gets really hot here in Texas like over 110 . Those baby mesh food thingies you get from Walmart for like $3 bucks that you put solid foods in, I put ice cubes and she sucks on those. Until she'll actually drink the water. The mind games lol
