The Dentist!🦷🪥

When is the right time to take our babes to the dentist? Our pediatrician said we could take her now or at 1 year. My girl is turning 11 months next week and she has 8 teeth😅 I’ve seen moms take their babies to the dentist with only 2 teeth. What do y’all think or suggest? Take her now? I’m leaning towards that more. Also, is it better to go with a pediatrics dentist that cares for babie’s teeth 0-18 months or a regular dentist that cares for all ages 0-adulthood? What are you all doing with your babies?

We just went to our first dentist appointment today so I’ve been looking it up a lot. They say to take them when the first tooth emerges or at 1 year. My daughter is two next month and this was her first visit and they looked and said everything was good. If I could choose again I would choose a paediatric dentist as they would be slower and have more kid friendly things and atmosphere and if she has a cavity she has to be recommended to a paediatric dentist anyways they said. Although on another note they were great and she has such a good sense of the dentist and joy for it now that it would be nice to follow those hygienists and dentists into the future. As well as be comfortable in a normal dentist office where it’s not as kid friendly for when they are older and switching dentists. Whatever you decide explain they are going to look at her teeth and in her mouth so say ahhh and you get to wear cool sunglasses lol she was so excited about all of that lol and we had a great first!

Within 6mo of first tooth eruption. The appointment is more for the caregiver to ask questions and set up a dental home. Go to a dentist that is convenient and one that you are comfortable with, whether that is a general or pediatric dentist. If your general dentist cannot handle the scope of your child’s care (due to behavior or clinically), they will refer you to a pediatric dentist.

A family dentistry office that has both dentist types! Ayden has several teeth, I made his first appointment for July 2nd ( day before his 12 months visit 7/03..... Was 06/27 but the doctor was going to be out of town)

Our office is a family dentistry office that got a pediatric dentist a year or so ago

@Shelbie @Jessica @Elizabeth Thank you all so much for your suggestions! We’ve decided to go with a pediatric dentist. We figured we’ll take it a step at a time. We feel more comfortable relying on keeping the same doctors consistently for as long as she needs them. And we definitely want her to feel comfortable in the environment and colors and cartoons on the walls along with other kids being around is 100% her comfort zone. I didn’t know they also have offices with both dentists in the building. I’ll look into it too!👏🏻👏🏻🫶🏻 I hope y’all had the best Mother’s Day!!🩷🩷🩷💐🌷

As soon as they get teeth they can go to the dentist.
