What form of birth control is everyone on?

I haven’t been on birth control since I was 15, I know there are a lot of side effects which puts me off being on it but I don’t want to be pregnant or even risk it. ( although my partner would love another one 😂) so what’s the best contraception? That won’t change my mood drastically?

Depo shot isn’t bad it doesn’t change my mood

I’m the pill but wondering about switching because I keep forgetting and I feel like it’s messing with my body and hormones😭 wish we could just not get pregnant without taking anything😂

@Serenity thank you will have a look into that :)

@Soph this was my problem! Constantly forgetting to take them, even with an alarm 🤦🏼‍♀️ I am not ready to be a mum of 2 just yet 😂😂

@Hazel Scott only con is that at first taking it it can make you feel nauseous till your body gets use to the medication

I decided on the implant and I’ve had it since feb 2023. I haven’t had a period since. It’s the only birth control I’ve ever been on so can’t compare to any others I just knew I would forget taking the pill 😅

I decided to go for the injection this time as my little one came about while on the pill 😅😅 It's not available in all areas apparently, but if you are able to then the sayana press version is self administered. You get shown by the nurse the first time and then you can do it easily yourself every 3 months

I'm going back on the copper coil after this baby is born. No hormones. I had such a good experience and you can keep it in for 10 years. I've tried pills, the injection. They didn't agree with me at all x

i was forced on bc when i was 15 and i got the pill at first and kept forgetting to take it then got the implant and it was the worst decision my mom could of made…i gained 150+ and i got so depressed and was just miserable, i bled for months at a time, not days or weeks months, my longest period was 8 months and it was a heavy period pad and tampon used and bled through both probably around every 2 hours…

I started on the patch which is like the pill and you change it once a week for 3 weeks give yourself a break while you have your period and then after a week start the patches again , it has been fine with my moods and spots etc. there’s a lot of pills I never got on with so I was worried this would effect my moods and give me lots of spots but I have been perfectly fine so far x

The combined pill is really effective and there are like 7 of them (Probably more now) to choose from. I've have 4 of then so far and every one has affected me differently. I can't comment on the others as I haven't used them. It would definitely would be useful to talk to a sexual health expert because anything with a hormone can affect you and obviously some are more effective then others depending if you remember to take said pill or go to said appointment.

I was on depo before getting pregnant, now have an IUD

IUD copper and at first I had very bad bleeding. Was actually lining up to get it removed. Then I started taking vitamin D3! I found out after my last period, it reduces inflammation in the uterus and pelvic area. (According to a study in Taiwan and article in the epoch times) I have always had some cramps of various degree of pain. But this last one? Not a single cramp that I can remember! And my bleeding was drastically reduced to below my normal-pre-IUD level. All I've done is started taking daily B12 and D3! It's worth trying y'all!!!

I just track cycles and do NFP I haven’t been on BC for a decade and when we TTC we conceived easily

Im on depo and i literally regret it. I researched that depo increases ur risk of osteoporosis and weakens bone density. Probably y both of my hands wrist snd forearm are in constant pain for 2 months. And i still been bleeding which is from depo. And i gave birth in JANUARY.

I’ve had a fair few contraceptions in my time. I tried the depo injection. Was good for protection, easy to get sorted but gave me severe acne to the point I had to have medication for that. I’ve always been on the pill before getting pregnant but had many issues with constant bleeding. The only one that worked for me was not allowed to be offered during breastfeeding I now have the merina coil. Bled for a while once fitted but once it stopped, it hasn’t started since. Haven’t bled for about 4 months now and had no issues. Painful insertion and for the whole day after. But good since

Nothing because everything makes me feel horrible 😭 13 months and no baby #2 yet😝 although when I take my monthly pregnancy test, I do get a little bummed not to see a second line even though we use the withdrawal method

My personal experience I’ve had pills implant and the depo injection and everything seems to change my moods and make my periods worse (heavy bleeder here) or have really bad headaches, after my little boy was considering the coil but was scared to have it incase the problems I’ve had before happened again it just not a quick thing to remove. So I just went back to depo and up to press I’ve been ok 🤣 hope it helps x

I’ve been on it a little bit here and there in my twenties but never really used it. Now though after having my daughter I asked my GP for the contraceptive implant first chance I got at my 8 week check up😅 I’m terrible at remembering to take any tablet that’s required on a regular daily basis, so I really wasn’t willing to risk anything! Had it in for a few weeks now and not noticed any issues. The implant can last for 3 years. My partner and I know we want more kids but I’m not ready or willing to risk it! 3 year gap sounds good for us so I’m going with that 😅

They all suck lol! Copper coils are non hormonal so if you're okay getting one inserted then that won't affect your mood. None of the hormonal ones agree with me. I get migraines with the pill, so apparently that means I can't have the injection or a couple others. The implant makes me bleed constantly. The mini pill affects my mood, but is my best bet really. Don't particularly want a hormonal coil and I have a metal allergy so can't have the copper one. And the doctor said they probably won't sterilise me because of my age 😕
