If you earnt £1300 after tax from work for 3 days a week (two in office and one at home) plus child benefit and you can get by would you do it? Or earn an extra £400 by doing 5 days but then would have to put little one in nursery 1 or 2 days a week .. I would still be making more money after paying for nursery

Only you know what’s right for you and what is manageable financially for your family. It’s all personal choice really and I guess comes down to where or what you want or need to compromise - money or time with your little one.

The nursery fees may end up costing not much less than the £400 so may not be worth it. But it is up to you in the sense of if you have certain career goals you want to be full time to achieve/ if you’d prefer more home time with baby etc or if you want your baby to go to nurseries for several reasons it depends on many factors. But only looking at the financial aspect it’s probably better to do 3 days x

@Leah I think after the funded hours come in Sept this would help OP a lot if they did the extra days. The issue would be more finding a nursery that only allow one day a week, I'd imagine it would end up being 2...

I’d look at how much extra you would have in your pocket for each extra day you work and decide if that amount of money is worth it to you.
