Can you wear make-up during a planned c - section?

Hey all 👋🏼 ( ps. I am really not fussed if you can’t wear make-up!) It’s just a query I had 🤔 As I’ve seen lots of people previously that have had ‘elective’ c section With false nails, lashes, make-on you name it! 😅 It is something I’m really not fussed on myself, just curious to know if you can or not …

I was told not to wear makeup on mine and they checked on the day to make sure I didn’t have any on

I had a little bit on. But after all of it, it was all gone!

First c section happened a little bit earlier than planned but I’d had my nails done (acrylics) and nothing was said to me about it however I was advised in the build up that they wasn’t allowed and I’d have to remove them but there wasn’t time 🤣 I also had lashes done. Second time I just had my lashes done, they were on point but nothing else was lol as again it happened earlier than planned. I think it depends on each hospital / surgeon etc I’ve heard some can be really strict and others not so much.

I did. I wasn’t told i couldn’t and no one checked. Wasn’t told I couldn’t do anything apart from - not to moisturise my stomach night before coming in I had my eye lashes tinted and lvl few days before so I didn’t have to wear mascara. I had my normal shellac/biab nails on aswell.

I got my brows and lashes tinted so that i looked ok and didn’t have to worry about makeup as you might sweat etc. The only thing they said to me was no nail polish and no bobby pins in my hair. This is UK

You can, surgeons and nurses know you want to take pictures and intially I was going to but then I didn’t because I would have put something like blusher and gloss and I didn’t want that rubbing onto baby’s skin when hugging, etc

I'm not sure why anyone would want to wear make-up, to be honest.

I was told no

I plan on getting a lash lift and tint but probably won’t wear make up. Last time I was so sweaty and stressed.

Yes u can if u want

I was told no jewellery, no makeup or nails but I had my lashes done only

I wore my false lashes but no makeup

I had nails and lashes but no make up. The nurse in my pre op had mentioned make up is not ideal as they need to monitor our face colour during the c section to make sure we are not going too pale with blood pressure issues or too blushed/red if getting too hot. Hope that helps!

I made a point of going to the toilet and reapplying my eyebrows and mascara before they did my epidural for my emergency section… I’d gone in in the middle of the night and so had nothing on, decided that I didn’t want to feel or look completely unlike me in our first pictures 🤷🏻‍♀️

i had lashes and brows done but i’m pretty sure they need to monitor the face colour just in case something goes wrong

I've been told to shower twice before surgery (one the night before, one the morning of), and not put anything on my skin after the second shower to keep things as sanitary as possible.

I got my brows and eyelashes tinted 3 days before. I didn’t wear makeup because they told me not to for whatever reason

My only thing I would be careful of as I had my nails done and an unplanned c section at 31 weeks, my nails were slightly too long that they got in the way of the blood oxygen reader they put on your finger. They also said to me dark nail polish colours can throw the readings. So if you do get your nails done do a light colour and don't go too long if you do nail extensions

You shouldn't because chances of infection can rise with makeup. with fake nails they can't get your Sat's as easy so if touvjave fake nails they tend to put the probe on your toes. It's the same for any operation.

Yes I had a full face of make up on and gel nails. No issues, never asked to remove any of it. Perhaps it depends on the hospital. It was a planned c section. No complications, no infection. I had to shower at the hospital before I went down to theatre (just with water, no soap) but I mean that’s your body, not your face anyway lol but yeah never questioned and all good 🙂

Personally I would go in bare faced, but pack all of my makeup in my hospital bag so afterwards I could do my makeup in bed whilst the bubba is being held or sleeping .. I have shellac on my nails and recently had an epidural for a stitch operation, and it wasn’t an issue xx

I had a full face of makeup on 🥰 I did it especially for my c section. Lol I wanted to feel good! No one battered an eyelid and I was shocked because everything say no makeup - I’m so glad I did Xx
