Am I over feeding him…

Thank you, my midwife said you can’t over feed them and he will stop when he’s full but he doesn’t seem to stop 😂 He’s 8lb12oz no he was 7lb6oz when born exactly 3 weeks ago…maybe we just have hungry babies. How often does he have the 6oz? I find he’s going longer between feeds now, around 4 hours whereas he was doing 3 ish hours before x
You CAN overfeed a baby with a bottle, but only if the flow is too fast, try paced bottle feeding, that way you are sure to not be giving too much, when baby drinks milk too fast they might take longer to realise they are full. On the breast is different because baby needs to suck to get the milk, most bottles have a flow even without much effort from baby.
Thank you 🙂 I do the paced bottle feeding with him and remove him from the bottle every 4/5 mins or so and burp him before returning him to the bottle. He’s also on the size 0 MAM teet bottle too so he has to work to get the milk…maybe he’s just greedy
@Katy my health visitor said not too give him 6 ounces but if he wants it and is still hungry. He is going 4 hours at the moment, he was doing every 3 hours on 5 ounces. He is a hungry baby, he’s was 9lb one when we got him weighed not last week the week before x
@Hayley I’m seeing my health visitor on Monday so I’ll see what she says. I think he would go longer between feeds. I’ll see what he’s like tonight as it’s the first day of trying the 6oz today with him. He doesn’t seem to be sick after the feed other than a tiny bit

My little girl is 12 days and just starting to take 4oz
My baby is 3 weeks and take 2 oz. She would take more but projectile vomits, we are slowly trying to up to 3 oz.
Mine is 3 weeks and is hungry all the time. Definitely draining more than 4 oz. They just get hungrier! X
Ours is 3 weeks old today and finishes 6oz everytime lol.. have you got the slow flow teets?
@Rebecca yes we have the size 0 flow mam tests at the minute. He finishes a bottle in around 20 mins so I haven’t gone up a size. What size do you use?
My boy is the same 3 weeks and 2 days old he was 8lb13 so a big baby, we’ve just upped to 6ounces. Not sure if we’re doing the right thing but it’s what baby wants 🤷🏽♀️ x
