C-section mama’s how’s your recovery?

I had my section 8 days ago & just wondering how everyone who’s had one is feeling, how’s your recovery so far? I was super surprised how well I was the first few days and even managed a 3 mile walk But now I get regular sharp pains in my incision on one side and I’m having to take it easy

I'm 3 weeks post surgery and I still get sore if I do too much. My first week I was in agony. I still have to remember not to do too much too quickly

I'm 1 week 2 days post surgery and my incision is healing really well. Midwife checked it today and has given me and baby Sage the all clear and discharged us, but I can still reach out if need be. I had quite a bit of pain first 2 days and I still struggle to lay/sleep on my side, but I've been quite mobile and only on paracetamol for pain relief. Tbh getting more aches from my uterus clamping and contracting whilst breastfeeding.

I’m 11 days post c-section and yesterday was the worst day I’ve had! I finished the Diclofenac that I was prescribed and yesterday was the first day I hadn’t had any to take and I really struggled just taking paracetamol but it’s not as bad today. I’ve also been getting sharp pains on one side of my incision which I mentioned to the midwife yesterday when she came out to discharge us and she put it down to it just being where the stitches started/finished. She wasn’t concerned by the pains at all because the incision is healing well x

Im 10 days pp. Doing well was discharged yesterday....however, on the left side of my tummy opposite my incision I'm getting sharp stabbing pains and cramps now 😫 I'm going to call the midwife tomorrow if it continues. I don't know if I'm doing too much, pulled a muscle over compensating or if something is wrong 🤦‍♀️😫 xx

I’m 13 days in to recovery and found the first week so so hard. Sitting/standing was so painful, and so was getting in and out of bed. Feeling much better now and healing nicely. I have numbness around the incision and I feel bruised on the inside. Ive found it more difficult healing mentally if I’m honest xx

I had mine just over 3 weeks ago and still taking easy. Although, I feel like I could do more, I don’t want to set myself & recovery back I get random shooting/sharp pains around that area. I am currently on a course of antibiotics as have infection too but that seems to be clearing quite nicely now and looks a lot better x

Thanks for everyone’s responses hope you all have a speedy recovery. Midwife discharged me yesterday too and was happy with the healing. I mentioned the sharp pains and as others have said midwife wasn’t concerned at all. My stomach / uterus was very sore the first few days like I’d been kicked in the belly. I think I’m just being harsh on myself, after having an amazing few days relatively pain free to now being just on paracetamol & ibuprofen and finding it more painful. I am able to do everything I would do around the house pre pregnancy (I won’t hoover or lift anything heavy) but I can’t go for long walks without a sharp pain which is gutting as I want to be out and about. But I’ll get there x

@Amy it’s hard, because you feel like you want to do more but know you shouldn’t! Don’t be too hard on yourself, your body had been through MAJOR surgery to get your beautiful baby to you. You need to give yourself time to recover. When your thriving, your baby will thrive too. It’s completely normal to have pain at this stage of your recovery Personally, I have found little and often walks better than long walks to keep me out and a great excuse to try out different coffee shops to sit and have a break before walking again 😂 x

I'm 3 weeks post section. Initial recovery was much better than expected. I'm also getting sharp pains around the incision but also find my whole tummy below my belly button feels sore to touch. I've been able to walk to town and back which is about 15 minutes each way but did find I felt quite sore afterwards so trying not to overdo it

Glad to hear you’ve had a relatively good recovery so far 😌 I’m 4 days post surgery and I went out for a walk yesterday but I’ve been making sure I’ve had pain killers regularly. I’m the same I have a sharp pain in the right side of my incision, it hurts when I try to get up if I’m lying down so have to sleep slightly sat up x

I'm 3 weeks post section and it's harder than my first one which was pretty easy, but still not too bad

I only had my c section the morning of 26th and I’m in agony. Still in hospital taking regular painkillers paracetamol, ibuprofen & the liquid in the syringe I can’t remember the name of. Cannot get comfortable to sit down/sleep. Has anyone else not passed wind at all or had a poo since the surgery? Because I feel like I can’t push, or I don’t have the ability to push on my rectum as if it wasn’t there ?

I had my section just over 2 weeks ago...was fine after was painful to get in and out my own bed the first week but went for small walks...I do have some pain at the very ends of my wound but I think that's where they started and ended the stitches...midwife has kept me on until yhe 1st of May as the ends was looking red so hopefully not and infection...but I am having really bad stomach ache for the last 2 days...not sure why but will speak to my midwife xx

@Sophie wind I think I did, take peppermint oil capsules it will help - if still in hospital they’ll provide the liquid for you and hot water to drink! As far as a poo, if you can get lactulose &/or eat high fibre foods. I was constipated for 5 days and when I went I was in tears! Not because of the pain of my incision but because I was so blocked up (sorry TMI) but as someone who is regular and never had constipation it was awful! x

Sounds like most of us are experiences the same which is nice to hear, & hopefully we will feel much better soon ❤️ I can’t wait to feel normal again, but it could be so much worse. Just need to take it slow x

@Amy yeah the DR came in to review me in the early hours this morning. He basically told me the pain I’m in is down to not passing any wind yet as it’s important to pass it 12-24 hrs after surgery. To stop taking Ora morph & ibuprofen as they’re constipators, and only stick to paracetamol if I can & can have it through my veins on a cannula which is stronger. I’ve had to have a pessary type thing up my bum & a laxative drink prescribed to help so 🤞🏼 all this works asap!!
